Groov-Pin celebrated its 95th anniversary on Thursday, May 20, 2021. The company was founded in 1926 in Long Island City, New York, by E.H. Schniewind, an inventor and developer of patents.
Through the years, the company’s headquarters moved from Long Island city to Ridgefield, New Jersey, and then to Smithfield, Rhode Island. In addition to another manufacturing plant in Newnan, Georgia, the company has field application offices across the U.S. in California, Illinois, and New Jersey.
One of Groov-Pin’s original products, the Type 1 Grooved Pin, is still being manufactured and put into application today. While the Type 1 pins were originally used in the Automotive industry, our product lines and industries they benefit have expanded greatly.
In the 1950s, Groov-Pin developed the Tap-Lok threaded inserts and later acquired the Speedserts line of thread-forming inserts and Precision Turned Components (PTC) to produce high-end, high-tolerance parts.
As we broadened our product lines, we diversified the industries they serve. Today, our engineered fasteners can be found in Aerospace, Medical, Irrigation, Telecommunications, Die Casting, Energy, and many more industries.
95 and Beyond…
As we approached this anniversary, we reviewed ideas and priorities with our team. It became clear that in addition to maintaining our manufacturing quality commitment to our customers, we wanted to give back to the community.
Our award-winning wellness program has made a difference in our employees’ lives and we want to extend those benefits to the larger community. Groov-Pin’s Walk to Wellness program has supported organizations like the Lung Cancer Research Foundation, the American Stroke Association, and the American Cancer Society.
We are excited to involve a Rhode Island community organization – Crossroads – in our upcoming wellness challenges for the new plan year.
While we make plans to improve for the future, we continue to prioritize our employees and their well-being. To celebrate our 95th year, we are hosting a virtual 5K for employees and their families.
We are looking forward to this fun way to connect and celebrate our Groov-Pin family.
