Groov-Pin sponsored Keys for All, a virtual fundraising event held by Crossroads Rhode Island on Wednesday, October 21, 2020. The hour-long event raised money for vulnerable Rhode Islanders experiencing homelessness.

Crossroads is the leading provider of housing and services to those experiencing homelessness in Rhode Island. Using the Housing First Model, they help homeless or at-risk individuals and families secure stable housing.

The organization provides a range of specialized services that include housing in over 370 residences across the state, 24/7 emergency services, education and employment services, and comprehensive case management.

Throughout the pandemic, Crossroads has successfully housed more than 1,300 men, women, and children and raised $125,000 to help continue this critical work. In fact, Crossroads moved 15% more people into housing this year during a pandemic than last year.

According to Rajiv Kumar, MD, keynote speaker for Keys for All, the COVID-19 pandemic created a greater sense of urgency to get people housed. “Providing affordable housing really gets at the root cause of a lot of health issues. Once people are stabilized in housing, we know that every aspect of their life improves, especially their health,” he explained during the broadcast.

During Keys for All, Crossroads employees discussed the impact COVID-19 has on their work housing people while dealing with their own personal anxieties regarding the virus. Viewers also heard about experiences from Crossroads clients and the positive impact the organization has had on their lives.

Virtual guests heard closing remarks from Crossroads President and CEO Karen Santilli who illustrated the importance of safe, stable housing for everyone. “We know more than ever, housing is health. That’s why we need to remain resolute in our work together to end homelessness for individuals and families in Rhode Island,” she said.

Groov-Pin continues to support Crossroads’ work as a corporate sponsor. Groov-Pin’s CEO Scot Jones is also a member at large on Crossroads’ board of directors.
