Sharyn Holbrook is a customer account representative with Groov-Pin in Newnan, Georgia, which is where our standard lines of Grooved Pins and Threaded Inserts are manufactured. She began working at Groov-Pin four years ago as an inside salesperson. Since then, her role has evolved and she has a hand in many different parts of our process.
Her day-to-day responsibilities include quoting, managing orders, answering phones, and handling the LiveChat window on the Groov-Pin website. She also expedites outside service for heat treating and plating, checks on jobs and work orders on machines, and works with the shipping department.
“Being at the plant, there’s a little bit of everything I’m involved in, so it makes my job exciting,” she said. “I’m able to be hands-on and run out to the shop and talk to the operators to find out when jobs are going to be done. I get the information firsthand.”
Spending time on the floor and working with customers to understand how the parts will ultimately be used allows her to witness the manufacturing process from beginning to end. “In manufacturing, no day is the same and it’s so interesting to see the wide range of applications that our products go into.”
Sharyn has worked in the manufacturing industry for her entire career and she enjoys learning about the technical side of the job. “I’m not a math whiz, but anyone in the manufacturing industry needs to have a bit of technical aptitude,” she said. “I’m always dealing with diameters and lengths of pins and I need to understand heat treating and different plating methods.”
Sharyn moved to the east coast to be closer to her parents before she began working for Groov-Pin and is still getting used to a different pace of life in Georgia. She said, “I bought a house and have started a garden. I’m even thinking about getting goats!”
Her fellow employees at Groov-Pin are helping this California transplant settle in. “The people I work with are like a family. Our personalities blend well together and I love coming to work every day,” she said. “I love the family atmosphere of Groov-Pin as a whole. They really care about us.”
