Our employee wellness program, GP Fit, provides our team with opportunities to make positive, long-lasting changes to their physical, mental, emotional, financial, and social health.
Rather than focusing only on metrics like steps or calories, our program addresses physical, mental, emotional, financial, social, and community health through fun challenges, educational resources and experts, and a digital tracking platform. Based on feedback from employees, we switched to a new platform (YuMuuv) that is simpler and easier to use.
The GP-N-Motion program is the internal engine for fitness and wellness activities. Through GP-N-Motion, we host weekly and monthly wellness challenges along with step, mile, and active minute tracking, which helps employees earn HSA dollars and other incentives.
A pillar of our wellness program has been Walk to Wellness. These quarterly walking challenges feature different themes and goals and often encourage healthy and fun competition between teams of participants.
One of GP Fit’s core principles is that wellness should be accessible. We offer on-site and virtual programming and a host of wellness challenges to accommodate our plant employees, remote workers, and field staff.
We host quarterly lunch and learn events for all employees (on-site and remote) and Wellness Workshops, which are shorter programs that focus on topics like yoga, nutrition, tai chi, and meditation.
In addition, GP Fit hosts GP University, which is an online learning hub accessible to all employees. Employees are incentivized to complete 60 minutes of learning per quarter. This allows participants to learn on their own time and choose topics that are most interesting and useful to them.
Wellness also extends to our communities. As part of GP Fit, we host wellness challenges to meet goals and raise funds for community organizations like Crossroads Rhode Island. We also host an annual Thanksgiving food drive in all locations and a holiday toy or supply drive.
We have also instituted incentives focused on prevention. Employees can earn HSA dollars for age-related exams including colonoscopies, bone density tests, skin cancer screenings, mammograms, pap smears, and PSA screenings. We continue to assess how we can help our employees better utilize their benefits and share information and resources.
