Chris Swarm has been an application specialist at Groov-Pin for 25 years. In addition to his main responsibility of key account management, he is also involved with pricing and application design support. “You have to have a level of technical ability to walk customers through applications and what may work best for them,” he said.
Over the years, he has developed extensive knowledge of all of our product lines: Threaded Inserts, Grooved Pins, and Precision Turned Components. His territory has expanded also expanded from the Midwest to include the Mid-Atlantic. “Groov-Pin gives me a lot of autonomy to handle my territory and accounts the way I feel fit,” he said.
Chris’ role is a perfect example of the way departments work together to provide the best experience for our customers. The sales team often works with customer service to make sure orders are entered and expedited when necessary and to create special pricing if a customer comes in with a unique part.
“I also work with engineering. When work with a customer gets very technical, we often go to them for help,” he said. He works with production to track progress on customer orders and with the quality department to ensure parts are inspected to a certain standard and resolve any concerns.
He not only works with various departments at Groov-Pin, but is also able to work with different departments in the many industries we serve. “We work with both our departments and the customers to make sure we’re on the same page,” he said.
“My favorite part of my job is working with all of the different people in different industries. You get to learn a lot about how things are made,” he said. “For example, we manufacture parts that go into military mortars. I think it’s really cool that we’re able to support our military in that way.”
All members of Groov-Pin’s team have a shared goal of meeting customer needs. “We are a relatively small company that really cares about our customers. We have several folks on our team that have intimate knowledge of our customers and their needs,” he said.
Chris also cares about his community and has volunteered to coach youth football for the past 14 years.
