For over a year-and-a-half, Matt Wagner has been responsible for packing and shipping orders at Groov-Pin’s subsidiary, Precision Turned Components, in Rhode Island. His day-to-day responsibilities include ordering all shipping materials, counting, packing, and shipping parts, and receiving any incoming materials.

Matt enjoys working in the manufacturing industry. “I’ve always worked in the industry, it’s a fast-paced environment,” he said.

To manage the challenges that come with this type of working environment, he relies on his ability to plan and prepare. “You need to have a good grasp of math skills for this job,” he explained. “And I keep ahead of things by prepping and having everything ready to go.”

As Matt has spent more time in his role at Groov-Pin, he has also been able to take over for some of his team members when they’re out. “I can help take over for some people; sometimes cleaning material, replenishing material, and chip spinning, for example,” he said.

One aspect of working at Groov-Pin he appreciates is the trust that is given to employees. “There’s not a lot of micro-managing here,” he explained. “They trust you to do your job and that you do it well. It’s very different from a lot of other places.”

When he’s not shipping PTC parts, Matt can be found doing anything outdoors! He is an avid hunter and enjoys fishing. He also enjoys trying out new hobbies and teaching himself new skills like knitting!
