Groov-Pin was recognized as a 2020 Healthiest Employer in Rhode Island by Providence Business News. Groov-Pin joins 21 other companies and organizations honored in the annual awards program.
The Healthiest Employers program recognizes “employers who have implemented worksite Health & Wellness programs and have shown a commitment to employee health and safety.” Groov-Pin was acknowledged in the 2-499 Employers category for the third year in a row.
Companies are awarded based on responses to questions about their corporate programs for physical, financial, and mental wellbeing. The application spans categories like program components, company culture and leadership, strategic planning, engagement and effectiveness, analytics, and more.
This year, the Healthiest Employers in RI awards ceremony will occur virtually on August 6, 2020, at 12:00 pm. Each company will be honored and the rankings will be revealed in each category.
Groov-Pin’s GP Fit Wellness Program
Since being named a Healthiest Employer in Rhode Island last year, we have added more variety to our wellness program. These new topics support the core goal of our program, which is to assist employees to continuously prioritize their physical, mental, and financial health.
Over the past year, we introduced new lunch and learn topics including mindfulness, acupuncture, and self-defense. Although they have now been put on pause due to the global pandemic, we also instituted monthly yoga classes and nutrition sessions for employees.
Another new initiative, which Groov-Pin employees were most excited about, was participation in a community event. In the fall of 2019, our teams in Rhode Island and New Jersey participated in the Free to Breathe 5K events organized by the Lung Cancer Research Foundation. Employees walked together to support a member of our team battling lung cancer. (You can check out our photo album from Free to Breathe here.)
As we move into a new plan year, we are focusing our efforts on how to best support employees in a time of social distancing. We have shifted to sharing more articles and resources online in our monthly health and wealth newsletter. Since the pandemic has presented unique problems, the topics focus more on mental health and emotional wellbeing.
We are also interested in addressing social health. Our Walk to Wellness walking challenges now encourage employees to work together to meet step goals that equate to a charitable donation. Participants in our winter Walk to Wellness challenge raised $375 for the American Cancer Society in honor of employees who are cancer survivors!
Even during this unprecedented time, the GP Fit wellness program focuses on employees’ needs and provides programs and incentives that will motivate employees to take care of every aspect of health.
