Groov-Pin’s Health and Wellness Program

Groov-Pin assists employees to continuously prioritize their physical, mental, and financial health. Our wellness program rewards employees with wellness incentive dollars, which can be earned by completing the following activities: personal health assessment, annual wellness exam, dental cleaning, BMI and blood pressure check, a Walk to Wellness program, and gym membership.

A major component of our wellness program is the Walk to Wellness walking program. We started Walk to Wellness six years ago and it has been recognized by United Healthcare (UHC). UHC has since replicated walking programs with other companies as part of their corporate wellness programs. Each year, we create different themes, prizes, and challenges for our walks. In 2016, Groov-Pin celebrated its 90th anniversary and we challenged employees to walk a total of 90 miles over six weeks. This year, we launched three walking challenges, which vary in length. The final challenge encourages employees to walk a daily total of 10,000 steps or more over four weeks.

Our team also enjoys endless fruit bowls and filtered water to encourage healthy snacking and hydration. We regularly run health fairs and host lunch and learn events with presentations from health and wellness speakers. A highlight of these events was the engagement of 30-year machinists participating in yoga moves with a local chiropractor.

Groov-Pin was also a pilot location for a financial literacy training and coaching program. Our annual health and wealth fairs include guidance and education about retirement planning, benefit overviews, live webinars and professional assistance from Transamerica Retirement, website training, and more.
