Our Grooved Pins are used to strengthen assemblies in a range of industries from Aerospace and Automotive to Irrigation and Medical. Recently, Grooved Pins found a surprising new application thanks to Peter Diepenbrock, a Rhode Island artist and designer.

Diepenbrock is based in Jamestown, Rhode Island and after talking to Groov-Pin CEO Scot A. Jones, he thought our pins might be a good fit for his work. Jones sent him some stainless steel pins and while experimenting with them, Diepenbrock created a torsion shape, using the pins as a test for a larger piece. The largest of his torsion sculptures can be found on the University of Rhode Island’s campus.

Diepenbrock liked the pin torsion so he created a second one, which is now displayed at our facility in Smithfield, Rhode Island.
