Groov-Pin was named a 2023 Best Wellness Employer by Wellness Workdays. We earned silver certification based on our commitment to employee wellness and rankings based on four categories: assessment, strategy, implementation, and evaluation.

Our workplace wellness program, GP Fit, focuses on different aspects of health: physical, mental, social, emotional, and financial. In August of 2022, our program celebrated its 10th anniversary!

GP Fit programming shifts with the needs of our team. During the pandemic, mental health was a big focus of our program. We also launched a campaign to get more employees involved in our program especially if they were not enrolled in our insurance.

Here are some key components of our program that have helped wellness become part of our company culture:

Events & Classes

Our goal is to introduce initiatives that will resonate with employees so they can make lasting changes to their health and well-being. On deck for 2023 is CPR certification in response to increased media coverage of cardiac arrest and heart attacks.

Our team has also expressed an interest in mindfulness and meditation. We hosted a tai chi lunch and learn and will continue our regular yoga sessions.

As a small company, we are able to have one-on-one relationships with our employees and get direct feedback on our programming.

Participant Feedback

To better measure employee engagement, we launched an employee wellness survey to determine what’s working and where we need to improve. We asked employees about their stress points (at and outside of work), what types of programming they want to see more of, which incentives are motivators, and their barriers to participation.

Walk to Wellness

A critical lesson we’ve learned over 10 years of our program is to go with what works and, for us, that’s Walk to Wellness. We vary challenge themes, goals, and prizes, but the framework remains the same.

We previously hosted other challenges with topics like hydration, healthy eating, and relaxation, but we found those worked better as extra bonus challenges.

Step challenges help our team remain active throughout the year, giving a boost of motivation during the colder winter months when exercising is easy to put off. Healthy competition between our plants also makes it more fun!
