Threaded inserts follow a similar structure to grooved pin part numbers.

Insert Type – Internal Diameter – Internal Thread Size – Length – Material – Finish – Special Information

Catalog part numbers are commonly given when looking for price and delivery. An example would be a Tap-Lok Hole Series medium-length 303 stainless steel insert or catalog number HM19032-50. This would convert to Groov-Pin part number:

IHLE-190-032-2-500-00-00

IHLE- is I for Insert, HL for Hole Series, E for English as opposed to M for Metric.

-190- is the internal diameter, which is for 10 size.

-032- is the internal threads per inch.

-2- is the length…1 for regular, 2 for medium, and 3 for short.

-500- is the material…500 is 303 stainless steel, 101 is steel, and 301 is brass.

-00- is the finish…00 for plain finish, 14 for steel zinc, 12 for steel cadmium, and 18 for steel cadmium and yellow chromate.

-00 Indicates if it is a standard part -00 or a special part -01.

All steel Tap-Lok threaded inserts are case-hardened.
