There are six basic types of grooved pins with groove configurations designed to serve the specific needs of particular applications. Each pin type is available in a wide range of diameters, lengths, materials, and finishes.

Type 1 Grooved Pins

Feature three full-length tapered grooves which allow it to serve as a connecting and fastening element. As such, it replaces the conventional taper pin, eliminating the reaming of drilled holes, which saves time and tool cost.

Typical applications include pulley locking pin, cover retaining pin, or flywheel balance plug.

Type 1 Grooved Pin references include Driv-Lok A and ANSI – A.

Type 2 Grooved Pins

Feature three half-length tapering grooves. These are special parts and made to order. Please contact Groov-Pin Customer Service for more information.

Type 2 Grooved Pin references include Driv-Lok B and ANSI – B.

Type 2A Grooved Pins

Feature three half-length grooves and a short pilot for both blind and through-hole applications.

Typical applications include lever stop, locating pin, strap anchor, or hinge pin.

Type 2A Grooved Pin references include Driv-Lok H and ANSI – H.

Type 3 Grooved Pins

Feature three full-length parallel grooves with one pilot. These are special parts and made to order. Please contact Groov-Pin Customer Service for more information.

Type 3 Grooved Pin references include Driv-Lok A3 and ANSI – C.

Type 3H Grooved Pins

Feature three full-length parallel grooves. Short pilots and chamfers permit insertion from either end. The ideal pin for hopper feeding.

Typical applications include cover retaining pin or rivet replacement.

Type 3H Grooved Pin references include Driv-Lok U and ANSI – F.

Type 4 Grooved Pins

Feature three half-length reverse tapering grooves. These are special parts and made to order. Please contact Groov-Pin Customer Service for more information.

Type 4 Grooved Pin references include Driv-Lok D and ANSI – D.

Type 5 Grooved Pins

Feature three grooves centrally located and extended over one-half the pin length. Ideal for rod assemblies requiring neither head nor additional cotter pins.

Typical applications include hinge pins, T-handles, fulcrum pins, locating pins, or retaining pins.

Type 5 Grooved Pin references include Driv-Lok E and ANSI – E.

Type 24 Grooved Pins

Feature three parallel grooves and a pilot extending over one-quarter of the pin length. Parallel grooves provide high holding power where shorter grooves and longer bearing areas are required. The short pilot on the grooved end allows the pin to enter from either end and permits its use in either blind or through holes.

They are designed specifically for linkage, pivot, hinge, or axle applications.

Type 24 Grooved Pin references include Driv-Lok C.

Type 67 Grooved Pins

Feature three half-length parallel grooves and a neck for tension springs. It is designed for both blind and through-hole applications. Annular grooves may be machined to the customer’s specification when pins are used with retainer rings. Ideal for use in automatic machinery and on tools requiring reciprocating spring action. These are special parts and made to order. Please contact Groov-Pin Customer Service for more information.

Typical applications include spring anchors, pulley axles, or pivot pins.

Type 67 Grooved Pin references include Driv-Lok G and ANSI – G.
